The 2026 Winter Gala will be held on January 24 at a private home in the Tehama/Monterra community, with three speakers on distinct threads 0f investment strategies. Chris Bonavico, an expert in Mid-Cap securities, will present an approach to fundamental analysis and identification of undervalued securities. Steve Scherner will present the state of precious metals markets, with an emphasis on the dynamics of current gold, silver and rhodium. Michael Hogan will discuss methods of using the options market to create either leverage or safety in an equities portfolio. Complimentary wine and appetizers will be served. Scherner is an expert analyst on tangibles investment, including precious metals and real estate. He has recently performed some amazing deep dives into the mechanics behind 2025 skyrocketing prices of gold and silver, and he will share these data with us.’

Bonavico is the founder of Semper Anticus Capital Management, which manages high net worth equity portfolios. His investment premise is avoiding losses as well as identifying winners, Chris has over 30 years experience in institutional asset management managing over $30 billion assets for corporate pension and 401k plans, university foundations and endowments

Hogan will speak on some basic stock option strategies with emphasis on using derivatives to amplify portfolio gains, rather than use of options as speculative tools. He has two decades of practical option training, using some of his mathematical background to discover practical algorithms.
