At the October 28th CASI Youth Mentoring Event, you’ll see a biotechnology talk by noted physicist C. Michael Hogan and an art mentoring interactive talk with dazzling graphic and digital artist Katie Bruzzone. The biotech presentation will cover genomic sequencing, nutrition, invention of new substances like synthetic spider webs, clinical testing and other ideas for your student writing. You will also learn how to become appointed to be a CASI University Scholar, which brings you not only a title, but also a free membership in CASI and the potential of winning a cash scholarship. After these keynote talks we will break out into art mentoring and science/economics writing mentoring sessions.
The October 28th free event will take place at the Community Shared Spaces in the Carmel Barnyard. The event is open to the public and will take place between 3:30 pm and 5:15 pm. It is geared toward interested middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students, with the adult public also welcome to attend. After the keynote presentation, there will be time to meet our featured speakers. Subsequent to the keynote presentation, California Arts and Sciences Institute mentors in science and economics will be present to discuss the 2024/2025 CASI Student Writing Contest.
Art Mentoring: Students interested in next year’s CASI Student Art Contest can ask questions about the 2024/2025 new contest. The CASI Student Art Project Manager, Katie Bruzzone, and noted Carmel artist Jennifer Perlmutter will oversee the art mentoring.
