The California Arts & Sciences Institute (CASI) hosted a gala awards ceremony on August 9th to celebrate the talented young artists of Coastal California. Our youth artists have produced phenomenal works in painting, photography, sculpture, drawing and other media to express their experiences of the flora and fauna of our Central Coast. The exhibition included the 35 top submittals and resided in the Chapman Gallery of Carmel’s Sunset Center for the month of August. Three cash scholarships were awarded, including the First Prize of $1500. The ceremony of August Ninth honored the students chosen for exhibition, their families and teachers, all of whom contributed to the contest’s success.

Deep creativity and excellence is alive on our California Coast, as evidenced by these beautiful and creative artworks spanning painting, acrylic, watercolor, photography, sculpture and scratchboard. Immediately CASI is launching our 2024-25 Art and Science Contest. Details of the 2024-2025 contest will be revealed at the Sept 30 CASI Youth Mentoring Event at the Carmel Barnyard. This coming year CASI will again have a student art contest for students aged high school and below. We shall also have writing contest for high school and college students to prepare academic works capable of becoming published in peer reviewed journals: spanning fields of environmental science, biotechnology, art history, economics and criminology.

Besides the cash awards, seven other submitting students received honorable mention awards. The awards ceremony resulted in a totally packed house, and the ensuing month long exhibit received remarkable attendance and kudos from the public at large.
