Theo is an author, teacher and artist who has lived on the Monterey Peninsula on the Central California Coast for more than twenty years. In addition to being an author, he is a lyre maker, a ship captain, photographer, house builder, farmer and diver. His prior endeavors have included Waldorf teaching, organic farming, ranchhand, professional storytelling, outdoor education, agriculture, construction, raft guiding, and lots and lots of time wandering around in nature. Theo currently lives in the Santa Lucia mountains of Big Sur, where he has built himself a delightfully sturdy and simple “off-the-grid” home with an ample garden and orchard

Maehr holds two degrees from Stanford University. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Geologic and Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Land Resources MA – Education with an emphasis in Curriculum Design and Teacher Training. He has extensive experience in firefighting and in fire hardening of residential properties in the Wildland Urban Interface.
